Delete your account
Hot Spots is operated by Hot Spots Technologies L.L.C-FZ, Meydan Grandstand, 6th floor, Meydan Road, Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
You can delete your Hot Spots account and its data at any time, directly in the app. You don't need to contact us and you don't need a reason. This page explains how, exactly what is removed, and the few things we are required to keep.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Hot Spots and sign inYou need to be signed in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to your Profile, then the settings iconThe settings icon is in the top corner of your profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete accountIt sits at the end of the settings list.
- ConfirmYou'll be asked to confirm. Deletion begins immediately.
This cannot be undone. Deleting your account is permanent. We cannot restore your profile, your content or your connections afterwards, and your username may become available to someone else.
If you only want a break, you can sign out instead — your account stays as it is until you return.
If you can't access the app
If you've lost access to your device or can't sign in, email hello@hotspotssocial.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account".
We'll verify that you own the account and delete it within 30 days. We may ask you one or two questions first to confirm it's really you — this protects you from someone else deleting your account.
What is deleted
When you delete your account, everything tied to it is permanently removed:

Kept, and why
Nothing retained identifies you
- Messages you sent to other people remain in their conversations, shown without your name. We can't remove them from someone else's inbox any more than we could unsend an email.
- Anonymised records of reports about content are kept for up to 12 months so we can keep the community safe and meet app store safety requirements.
- Limited records we're required to keep by law, or to prevent a banned user returning.
How long it takes
Deletion from the app is immediate — your account is closed and you're signed out straight away. Copies held in routine backups are cleared as those backups rotate, within 30 days. Requests made by email are completed within 30 days of us verifying that you own the account.
Deleting the app is not the same as deleting your account
Removing Hot Spots from your phone doesn't delete your account. Your profile and content stay on Hot Spots, and people can still find you. To remove your data, use Delete account in the app, or email us as described above.
Your other rights
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access or correct your personal data, or to ask us to restrict how we use it, without deleting your account. Our Privacy Policy explains those rights and how to exercise them.
